During Milan Design Week 2022, USM unveiled a new limited edition of its ‘Haller’ range, in blushing pink. In collaboration with local cycling shop Rossignoli, the Swiss design brand staged the True Pink installation, presenting streamlined, functional ‘USM Haller’ classics in a brand-new shade. Now available, the limited-edition collection includes storage units, shelving systems, a desk and a bar trolley.
The modular furniture system was originally conceived for the factory and office pavilion that architect Fritz Haller designed for USM in Münsingen in 1961. Haller collaborated on the collection with Paul Schaerer, third-generation in charge of USM, who wanted to translate the building’s functionality into the world of furniture.

The Milan installation this year marked the first time USM has presented the collection in a new shade: for over 50 years since its creation, the range has been available in a palette of 14 colours, from black and white to green, yellow, red and blue – with the possibility to mix and match colours within an interior, and also to add to a configuration as needs change.
Infinitely modular thanks to the special connection between each part, the collection has recently been updated through special collaborations, such as the one-off piece created in a USM and Rimowa collaboration in early 2022. The new pink series adds to this concept of creating limited-edition collectors’ furniture, cementing the brand’s cult status.

With the new addition to its portfolio, USM considered the impact of colour on design and architecture: ‘USM decided to redefine the meaning of comfort, looking at how this pink hue can bring a sense of warmth and joy to the spaces we inhabit,’ reads a note from the brand. ‘After a difficult couple of years for everyone during the pandemic, USM’s rosy-pink brought back some much-needed energy to the world of design.’ §
